![]() ![]() The incident was motivated by a longstanding feud between two rival Chinatown gangs, the Joe Boys (Chung Ching Yee) and Wah Ching, traced back to 1969, when the first victim was killed. Seven perpetrators were later convicted and sentenced in connection with the murders. The attack left five people dead and 11 others injured, none of whom were gang members. The five perpetrators, members of the Joe Boys, a Chinese youth gang, were attempting to kill leaders of the Wah Ching, a rival Chinatown gang. The Golden Dragon massacre was a gang-related shooting attack that took place on September 4, 1977, inside the Golden Dragon Restaurant at 822 Washington Street in Chinatown, San Francisco, California. Oh my God, it was so good! Indo-Chinese buffet – so many items we don’t see here in the US. We were in India about 3 years ago and we ended up at a popular restaurant called Mainland China. So I guess that’s why it’s always appealed to me – it’s different than what I grew up eating. But I grew up eating traditional Chinese food in Singapore (we’d go there every other summer for 3 months at a time to visit family). Since my parents didn’t grow up in India, and there were no indian restaurants in our area, we had never tried it before. See, and I had never had Indo-Chinese food until we moved from IL to CA when I was a teenager. But once I discovered the SGV in the mid-late 1990s and began to eat actual Chinese food my relationship with Indian Chinese became entirely nostalgic (i.e. ![]() ![]() When I came to the US in the early '90s I craved it from time to time, and on trips home would go out to Chinese restaurants in Delhi at least a couple of times. ![]()
